Bayan Claremont, an accredited graduate school in Islamic studies, was awarded a grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Community Partnerships to implement an $800,000 project called "Flourishing Communities”. The project would have helped Bayan elevate the capacity of non-profits and community organizations working to improve interreligious cooperation, civic engagement, and social justice.

Due to the increasingly clear anti-Muslim actions of President Donald Trump's administration, Bayan Claremont with the support of its Board members, Faculty and Students made a bold decision to decline the federal assistance.
Bayan’s prospective “Flourishing Communities” capacity-building project is intended to equip promising but under-resourced organizations connected to various faith communities with professional skill sets, project management experience, and coaching in operations.

Under the leadership of its President, Jihad Turk, he is determined to position the University on the forefront of redefining the narrative for Islam not only outside of the Muslim Community but also within the Muslim Community as well. He is deeply committed to the School’s Vision, "A World That Understands Islamic Values in a Modern Context."
