Although the United States government has made a series of regulatory changes around transactions related to travel, remittance, and humanitarian assistance to Cuba, there is still more work to do to restore diplomatic ties and freedom for ordinary Cubans. Since my last humanitarian trip, I witnessed incremental changes in some areas, such as more available Wi-Fi hotspots, access to internet and individuals allowed to assemble and openly practice their religious faith. Even with those incremental changes, many Cubans are still grossly impoverished and in need of humanitarian support.
Over the past four years, I have made five humanitarian trips to Cuba to support a beautiful family I’ve adopted. I am committed to supporting the young, single mother living with HIV who's doing her best to raise her toddler who will be turning three years old on May 30th. My goal is to secure clothing, bilingual books, and shoes for the toddler—my goddaughter Lesnay. Also, raising funds will allow me to buy the mother and daughter food and other household items.
Please help me secure those items and raise $2,500 to bring some relief to this Cuban family. I will purchase some of the household items while in the United States and deliver them to the family in July 2017.
Thank you so much!
