Last week, my sister and brother in law found out the home they were renting was filled with toxic mold. They were told the type of mold in their home is deadly and they would have to leave and take nothing. All soft surface items (clothing, bedding, baby blankets, mementos, etc.) would need to be thrown away and all hard surface items (electronics, appliances, work machines, etc.) would need to go through mold remediation to find out if the items would able to be salvaged. From one day to the next, they found themselves leaving all their belongings and their home, and moving into a hotel. Their insurance told them they could cover the cost of living expenses for two weeks but beyond that they are on their own, as insurance does not cover mold. They’re tasked with finding a new place to live, unexpectedly, and since they’re not able to take anything from their home with them (furniture, clothing, mementos, etc), they’re starting over from scratch. Needless to say, they're feeling the weight of this and are just trying to take it step by step. While they're navigating next steps and starting over, they have a number of needs to potentially meet and could use your help. Current needs include: basic essentials such as food, clothing, toiletries, etc. Long term needs: long term needs would include start up items for the home such as first and last months rent, furnishings, cost of mold remediation, etc. Any help is appreciated, and prayers are coveted during this difficult time of transition for their family.
