Dear friends, family, and community,
We're reaching out to rally around a remarkable woman who has spent her life giving back to others and now needs our support. Zurn Porter, a loving mother to Elijah (21) and Gracie (12) and devoted wife to Delano, is courageously battling bile duct cancer.
For years, Zurn has served her community tirelessly, building connections and fostering opportunities for countless families. As a longtime non-profit and educational administration professional, Zurn’s impact has been felt far and wide. She’s been a dedicated parent leader at the Calhoun School, where Gracie is currently in 6th grade and Elijah graduated from high school. Beyond her work at Calhoun, Zurn’s influence has reached across Harlem, where she was a longtime board member of Harlem4Kids, a listserv connecting families with enriching activities and resources in the community. Most recently, despite her health battles, Zurn took it upon herself to organize a phone bank for Harlem Mamas for Harris from her hospital bed, inspiring everyone involved with her unwavering spirit and dedication.
Zurn’s compassion, strength, and resolve are a true force of nature. She is beloved by so many, known not just for her leadership but for her kindness, warmth, and generosity. Her deep-rooted commitment to service has impacted countless lives, and now it’s our turn to give back to her.
As Zurn undergoes intensive treatment, the financial burden is significant. We’re asking for your support to help ease the financial stress for Zurn and her family so they can focus on what truly matters: her healing and well-being. Any amount you can give—no matter how big or small—will go directly toward her medical expenses and the support her family needs during this difficult time.
Please join us in standing by Zurn, who has spent her life standing up for her community. Let’s lift her up with the same love and dedication she has shown to others.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Let’s show Zurn that she is not alone in this fight—she is surrounded by love and strength from all of us.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Maricruz Badia, Liz Simmons, Angela Hopkins, Miriam Palma and Davina Coard-Martoral
