For 26 years, Zosia has been a cherished part of our family. We married brothers the same year, lived close to each other, and have shared every family holiday together. Her strength and kindness have always inspired me, especially as she devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Patricia, who was born in 1998 with severe disabilities due to Goldenhar syndrome. Patricia has faced countless challenges—missing part of her lower jaw, a disfigured face, and difficulties with her hands, spine, and legs. She breathes through a tracheostomy and is fed through a G-tube, and Zosia has been her tireless caregiver, teaching her every skill she could learn. The whole family, including Patricia’s three younger siblings, has always pulled together, with Zosia’s husband working two jobs to support them. Despite never getting ahead financially, they managed without outside help, and Zosia’s unwavering smile gave us all hope for better days.

In August 2025, everything changed when Zosia was diagnosed with breast cancer. The news was devastating, and her health quickly declined. She soon faced stomach complications that required surgery and a long recovery, followed by a fracture in her right leg. Now, as she undergoes treatments, the family’s financial situation has become dire. Their insurance won’t cover the deductible, and there are no savings to fall back on. Zosia’s doctor has recommended a course of chemotherapy that is not covered by insurance. One of the younger siblings has had to stay home to care for both Zosia and Patricia, making things even harder.
