Hi, my name is Zora Felix. I’m a junior at Salve Regina University majoring in Global Studies with a minor in Cybersecurity. My studies combine my passion for international relations, politics, and cultural dynamics with the technical skills of cybersecurity. I would like to pursue a career in Foreign Affairs and Global cybersecurity.
As part of my Global Studies program, I am required to participate in a study abroad experience to enhance my understanding of international cultures and global issues. I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into a short-term study abroad program in Rome, Italy, scheduled for May 2025. This unique opportunity will allow me to immerse myself in Italian culture, strengthen my language skills, and engage with diverse perspectives, all of which are essential to achieving my academic and career aspirations.
In addition to exploring the rich culture of Italy, the program will delve into key themes in the Philosophy of Science, with a special focus on the Copernican Revolution and the pivotal contributions of Italian thinkers such as Campanella, Bruno, and, most notably, Galileo. Rome served as the epicenter of the intense clash of worldviews, culminating in Galileo's trial and eventual house arrest. Exploring locations throughout the city, including the Vatican and the Galileo Museum in Florence, will provide students with a rich historical context, bringing to life the dramatic events of the early 17th century that shaped modern scientific thought.
However, studying abroad comes with significant expenses, including tuition, housing, travel, and daily living costs. I am reaching out to the community for support in making this dream a reality.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring me closer to achieving my goal. Your generosity will not only support my academic growth but also provide me with transformative experiences that will shape my personal and professional journey.
Thank you for considering supporting me on this exciting study abroad adventure!
