Title: Help save Zoomie from possible lung cancer due to mold exposure.
Sweet 5-year-old Zoomie has developed lung cancer or fungal pneumonia, or both, according to her X-rays & pathology report. She was perfectly healthy until we lived in a house with toxic black mold last year. I've spent $2,000+ on tests, meds, and X-rays to know what she DOESN'T have.
Three different vets told us she needs a bronchoscopy &/or CT scan to know if it's cancer or just a fungal infection. So far, the anti-fungal meds aren't improving her horrible cough. These tests are way beyond my single mom/teacher budget right now! Let alone the treatment... Bronchoscopy estimated at $4-5k & CT scan $8-10k respectively… No estimate for treatment yet. I got her pet insurance after she started coughing, so none of this is covered. Huge regret!
Zoomie's story: My son worked for 2 years earning "Zoomie Points" to get a puppy on his 6th birthday. My kind teacher friends did only one litter for friends and family; I covered her puppy shots, food, etc., and despite Covid lockdowns, we brought her home in April 2020 for my son’s 6th birthday. She’s been a blessing to our family.
All 8 of her siblings and both parents are perfectly healthy - zero respiratory problems or other health issues. We are devastated that we might lose her because I cannot afford the tests and procedures they say we need to treat her.
To be fair, I've LOVED all my doggies, but Zoomie is hands-down the best dog I've ever had. She's sweet to everyone, especially kids, smart, playful, so cuddly and gentle, but with a giant bark that makes us feel safe at night. We deeply appreciate any help you are happy to give!
