Support Zooh Corner's Urgent Veterinary Needs
Donazione protetta
Hello, Animal Lovers and Bunny Friends.
First off: Some of you know that we lost everything, including our home, in the Eaton Fire, in January. We received some significant donations at that time, but since then--since January--our donations have dropped by at least 80%.
An 80% drop in donations is NOT survivable.
We've done our best, with the help of very generous friends, to cover all of the medical bills since January, but we are falling way behind and we need your help. Your generosity and love are the ONLY thing the Sanctuary Rabbits have to rely on.
Zooh Corner really needs help - in a big way. We have had a ton of huge veterinary bills lately - and have a bunch we need to deal with right now - for some very special Sanctuary Bunnies. Let me tell you about them.
RAINBOW MALONE
Last week, on Thursday, after extensive medical intervention, we had to say goodbye to 13-year old Rainbow Malone. It was sudden. It was unexpected. We are devastated. She was quieter on Monday, so I was closely monitoring her (with some additonal treatment), but by Tuesday Morning I knew she needed to be seen at Exotic Animal Veterinary Center as an emergency. Even at that time her diagnostics were not super alarming; based on bloodwork and x-rays we thought she had an infection, so we started her on antibiotics (and supportive care), expecting that by Wednesday she would begin to improve. That was not the case. We went back to the clinic. Her diagnostics were shockingly worse. She was hospitalized, in grave condition. Dr Kanfer did everything she could, nursed her round-the-clock, but our sweet Bowie bunny's body simply could fight no longer. She went back to the clinic on Thursday morning, hoping against hope there was some improvement, I got there shortly after that and was shocked and crushed by how much she had declined since just that morning. I knew what I had to do for her. I held her on my lap, briefly so she would not suffer, told her how much Daddy Kevin and I loved her, how grateful we were she had come back into our lives--and then I said goodbye. The last kindness I could offer her.
VINCENT THE GOPHER GIRL
LOOK at that face. This sweetling is about 5 months old (yes, she's part Flemish Giant), and when she was only 5 weeks old, she was attacked my an owl and lost both of her ears. On top of that, she never received any medical care. We have no idea how she survived, but when we learned her story, and that she was still living outside - in the Arizona heat - we knew what we had to do.
As you can imagine, Vincent needed, and still needs, significant medical care. She had never seen a vet, was not vaccinated for RVHD, was sneezing up a storm, and has what appears to be a significant abscess below her left ear hole. She boarded at the hospital for a week, bloodwork, x-rays, vaccination #1, and antibiotics, and then went home with her foster mama. We have raised the funds for a portion of her first bill (seen here)
VINCENT THE GOPHER GIRL NEEDS SURGERY
On Wednesday, 2 July 2025, Vincent will undergo surgery for that abscess, as well as to open up those ear holes, to help prevent further infection. The estimate for that surgery is seen here, along with another photo to remind you how adorable this sweet, earless baby bunny is.
Yup. This BIG baby is only 5 months old. She's also sweet as can be. And SO silly!
All we can say is: Please help. Your generosity is her lifeline.
And, lastly, for now, in addition to Vincent's surgery on Wednesday, Bunsy Malone has an echocardiogram.
BUNSY MALONE'S HEART
THE MOTLEYS: Bunsy Malone, 16, left, with her sweet, motley family.
Adorable, feisty, SIXTEEN YEARL-OLD Bunsy Malone has begun to have heart problems. This old lady, matriarch of The Motleys, deserves ALL the everything we can give her. She is funny, tough, feisty, adorable, smart - OLD - and awesome. To that end, she has an ultrasound on Wednesday, so we can check all her bits and make sure we are giving her all the supportive care she needs. The ultrasound runs right around $600, in addition to a basic check-up and shaving of her abdomen (nothing is free, friends).
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT
As you all can see, despite the unfathomable loss of our home - of everything - and everything for Zooh Corner as well, we are still hard at it, caring for the Sanctuary Bunnies as best we can.
And as you can see, they desperately need your support.
Thank you for reading (or skimming!) all of this. We wanted you all to know what's gone down, what's up, and why we need your help.
Nose bonks and love,
