Zoey, Erin’s beloved daughter, has bravely faced the challenges of sickle cell disease for years. This condition has brought severe pain, limited her daily activities, and even caused strokes. Zoey has endured a series of hospitalizations and gall bladder complications, each one adding to the difficulty of her journey. Recently, she had a second port installed so she can receive apheresis every three weeks, which helps manage her sickle cell levels. On top of this, Zoey has been diagnosed with moya moya disease—a rare and serious condition that now requires her to undergo brain surgery, scheduled for August 12th. This surgery is the only option to combat the progression of her disease.
During her recovery, Zoey will not be able to attend school in person, go outside, or participate in any activity that could raise her blood pressure. She will need to stay home for several months, focusing on healing and regaining her strength. Despite being on the bone marrow match list, Zoey is not a candidate for gene therapy due to her moya moya diagnosis, making her journey even more challenging. The mounting medical bills from her ongoing treatments, surgeries, and specialized care are overwhelming for Erin and her family.
Erin is reaching out for help to support Zoey through this difficult time. Any contribution will go directly toward Zoey’s medical bills and care, making a real difference in her recovery and well-being. Your support means the world to Zoey and her family as they navigate this journey together.
