Support Zoë Rhodes After Chandy Hovis' Passing
Donation protected
On May 24th, Chandy Hovis passed away suddenly. No one was expecting or prepared for her sudden departure, least of all her only daughter, Zoë Rhodes. Chandy had been diagnosed with LQTS (Long QT Syndrome). This is a heart condition where the time it takes for the heart to recharge between beats is longer than normal. The doctor at the ER said essentially what happened is her heart skipped a beat and never started. Chandy also left behind her beloved pet Willow. Zoë promised her mother that if anything should happen to her, Willow would have a forever home with her, so we also have the unexpected costs of providing for her precious Willow, which will include training classes as she desperately needs them. There are also funeral costs that are thousands of dollars. Another member of the family has graciously offered to cover this cost because Zoë and I are unable to at this time, but Zoë would really like to be able to contribute towards these costs. I think most of us are aware of how things are right now; no one is really doing amazing financially, so Zoë really would like to be able to repay the expenses to the family member that has offered to take care of them, as she knows it could cause a financial strain for them as well. Any money donated will go to either repaying the funeral costs to the family member that offered to pay them for the time being, as well as much-needed supplies for Chandy’s dog Willow including training(quoted at between $350-500)anything that Zoë may need during her time of grief, and bills because they sure don’t stop coming in just because you’ve lost a loved one.
Zoë will not be returning to work for an extended period of time while she grieves, and this will undoubtedly not be a short period of time, being that it’s such a significant loss to Zoë. Zoë also has her normal monthly bills to consider as well, as they don’t stop coming in just because of this unfortunate event. We welcome any advice towards these expenses too; if people have information on how to possibly have the medical bills removed or anything like that, please reach out (to Sean) with that information. Chandy made such a major impact on so many people’s lives and was deeply loved by many, many others. We greatly appreciate any donations and would also greatly appreciate things like condolences, words of wisdom, or any other form of support for people unable to contribute financially. The outpouring of love she has received so far has been amazing because, just like her mother, Zoë is loved by many. Chandy was truly a one-of-a-kind individual, a free spirit, perhaps the earthly form of Mother Earth herself. She was very in tune with nature and loved gardening with Zoë. Nothing can fill the hole that has been left in Zoë with this loss, but support from others in any form is helping with her grieving process. For any that are unaware, there will be a service for family and friends Thursday the 29th at Berryhill Funeral Home. We will start receiving guests at 4 p.m. with a service following shortly after. Once again, we are immensely grateful for any support that can be offered to Zoë during this time. Please keep Zoë and the Hovis family in your prayers as well.
In closing, I’d like to share a quote from one of Chandy’s favorite movies, Moulin Rouge. It is one that really resonated with her and the way she was living her life.
“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”
- “Nature Boy” by The King Cole Trio/Moulin Rouge.
