Support Zoe and her family through her illness

Hi everyone,

My name is Chloe, and I’m reaching out for my sister Kerstin, her husband Adam, and their four amazing children, Ever, Isla, Zoe, and Nate.

Right now, their family is facing an incredibly difficult and uncertain time, and they need our collective love and support.

Their daughter Zoe, who just turned 11 while in the hospital, was recently diagnosed with HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis), a rare and serious condition that affects the immune system. What started as a case of mono quickly escalated when doctors at Vernon Hospital became concerned that Zoe might be suffering from HLH. She was immediately airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she has already undergone extensive testing and steroid treatment.

In the meantime, Zoe has started an intensive 8-week course of chemotherapy, and there is a possibility she may need a bone marrow transplant depending on how she responds to treatment.

It’s every parent's nightmare, and yet through it all, Zoe continues to show remarkable courage and strength.

To be fully present for Zoe and their other children, Adam has had to take time off work until further notice. This, combined with the costs of travel between their home in the Okanagan and the hospital in Vancouver, is placing financial stress on their family.
