On March 23, 2026, around 9:00 p.m., my 19-year-old daughter, Zikerria, was struck by a Savannah Police Department vehicle while leaving work. She was rushed to Memorial Health Hospital with serious injuries and underwent surgery within 24 hours.
Zikerria suffered multiple fractures, including her pelvis, hip, rib, and tailbone, along with other injuries. She has been in significant pain and now faces a long road to recovery. She must undergo rehabilitation and relearn how to move while only being able to place weight on one leg. Doctors estimate her recovery could take six months to a year, or longer. Before this accident, Zikerria was working toward completing her dental assistant certification. Unfortunately, she cannot finish her exam or return to work until she is able to walk again. She has also lost her independence and now requires constant care and support, both physically and emotionally.
I am creating this GoFundMe because many people have asked how they can help. Donations will go directly toward:
Completing the final payments for her dental assistant program
Upcoming medical and rehabilitation expenses
Medical equipment such as a walker, wheelchair, and bath chair
Basic daily needs during her recovery
Housing accommodations, as she cannot return to our third-floor apartment. This accident has changed our lives drastically, but we are hopeful and committed to her healing. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease the burden and allow Zikerria to focus on recovery and rebuilding her future. Thank you so much for your love, support, and generosity.
