On the early morning of September 17, our dear friend Zhengyu Qin passed away suddenly in a tragic boating accident near the Golden Gate Bridge. He was only 35 years old.

Zhengyu was a beloved software engineer at Apple, a devoted husband, and a loving father to three young children — a 11-year-old son and two younger daughters, 9 and 3 years old. His sudden passing has left his wife and children facing an unimaginable loss, both emotionally and financially.

As a friend of Zhengyu, and on behalf of Yao Deng, Zhengyu’s wife, weare raising $200,000 to support Zhengyu's family during this incredibly difficult time. The funds will go toward funeral and memorial expenses, his children's day-to-day living costs, and emergency family expenses in the months ahead. All donations will be received and managed directly by his wife.

Zhengyu was kind, funny, and endlessly generous. He got along effortlessly with his coworkers, his children looked up to him, and his friends adored him. He was always the first to show up when anyone needed help — whether it was passing along his kids' outgrown things to other families, sharing the fish he caught on his fishing trips, or simply lending a hand whenever a friend was in need. He leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will live on through his three children.
