Would you please help fund Zena's rehabilitation?
This horse's name is Zena. Mary and Ken Smoak recently rescued the severely malnourished mare, which is pregnant, suffers from rain rot, has challenges with her hooves, etc. This fundraiser will help offset the costs associated with her urgent rehabilitation and care.
Zena was recently rescued from a family that could no longer care for her properly. Once Ken and Mary Smoak heard about Zena’s situation and condition, they immediately asked if they could have Zena so that they could nurse her back to health and give her the best chance at bringing her foal into the world safely.
Zena will need extensive care, including being assessed by a veterinarian, ongoing care for her medical issues and pregnancy, proper food and supplements, and other supplies required to ensure that her rehabilitation is successful. As she is pregnant, costs associated with bringing her foal into the world are also needed.
We are fundraising for $7500 for initial costs, but we understand that these costs may increase dramatically over time, given her condition.
Initial photos of Zena are below. We will post updates about her condition as we learn more about her needs and her care progresses.
Thank you for helping us care for Zena!
