Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,

Our beloved mother, Zenaida Flores, is 91 years young, a woman of strength, love, and unwavering faith. In March 2025, she traveled back home to the Philippines to celebrate her grandson’s renewal of vows, a moment meant to be filled with joy and cherished memories. But life had other plans.

What began as a happy reunion turned into a medical crisis when she was rushed into emergency surgery due to a severe intestinal complication. She spent over a week in the ICU at St. Luke’s BGC and remained hospitalized for more than a month. The bills mounted quickly, $50,000 and some change, and to ensure she received continuous care, my siblings and I exhausted every resource: her travel insurance, our savings, credit lines, and pooled funds to meet the staggering costs.

In April, we transferred her to Capitol Medical Center, hoping for more affordable care and a path to recovery. Despite countless treatments, her condition showed little improvement. Two weeks ago, doctors advised moving her to palliative care, and with heavy hearts, we made the difficult decision to stop aggressive treatments, choosing instead to let her live her remaining time comfortably and pain-free, with only morphine for relief.

And then, in what we can only call a small miracle, our mom began showing signs of strength. Though her prognosis remains uncertain, her resilience gives us hope. One of my sisters has put her life on hold in the U.S. to stay by her side, and as a family, we are doing everything we can to support her.

But the financial burden is overwhelming. We have already incurred over $125,000 in medical bills, and while we continue to cover her palliative care, we humbly ask for your help.
