Zenaida needs lots of help. She has found herself in a situation that began with her health - having been diagnosed with kidney failure, now necessitating dialysis three times a week. She has a very limited income. Her low-income housing was lost when the building was sold, and all tenants were required to vacate. In her desperation, she decided to return to Panama. The medical care she received in Panama, where she had ventured in search of a new start, fell short of meeting her needs.
Faced with the reality of her health struggles, Zenaida made the decision to return to Miami with nothing, where she could at least access the life-sustaining treatments she so desperately required.
Now back in Miami, she stands at a crossroads, once again starting anew. She is searching for a place to call home and yearning for a used car that will grant her the freedom to, perhaps, get a part time job, attend her life-saving dialysis sessions, and rebuild her life. This journey ahead is daunting, and she cannot traverse it alone.
Today, I reach out to our compassionate community – those looking to make a difference, the many parents, like me, who Zenaida helped shape their children, and to the grateful students who are now adults. I don’t come to you with a plea but with an invitation to be part of Zenaida's journey. I ask you to join hands with us, not out of pity, but out of a shared understanding of the strength that lies within us when we come together.
Your contributions, regardless of their size, will become the foundation upon which Zenaida can secure stable housing, acquire reliable transportation, and, most importantly, focus on regaining her health and well-being. Your generosity will not merely transform her life; it will demonstrate that she is not alone on this challenging journey.
As you read Zenaida's story and consider making a contribution, remember that your support is not just a financial transaction; it is a lifeline, a symbol of hope, and a testament to the strength of all of us when we rally behind those in need.
With deep gratitude and a heart full of hope, on behalf of Zenaida Mojica and our entire community,
