Your support can help protect endangered wildlife in Ethiopia from the plastic pollution crisis, build international student partnerships in engineering, and create revenue opportunities for rural communities!
We are the Zelaki Project: a collaborative initiative between Engineers Without Borders at Arizona State University and Ethiopian engineering universities including the Addis Ababa College of Technology and the Built Environment and the Gondar University Institute of Technology. Our student-led solutions to Ethiopia's plastic bottle crisis aim to reduce plastic pollution at the country's UNESCO World Heritage Sites, offer international engineering education opportunities to Ethiopian and American students, and provide communities with the tools to turn plastic waste into new revenue streams.
Your support will provide us with the funds needed to (1) purchase materials and equipment for small-scale recycling machines, (2) bring students from all over Ethiopia to the capital of Addis Ababa to create connections and build machines, and (3) allow students from ASU to pair with Ethiopian students to co-create recycling solutions.
