Zeki is more than just a dog to me; he has been my service dog for 5 years and in November started to enjoy retired life. On 2/4/2025, in the early morning, Zeki showed alarming symptoms and a rapid decline. He was rushed to the ER vet. The vet discovered a large mass near his spleen and serosanguinous to hemorrhagic abdominal effusion. The prognosis is not looking good, but I do not want to give up quite yet, knowing he still may have a chance. If things do deteriorate, we are looking at end-of-life care.
Right now, he is on an herbal medication, Yunnan Baiyao CAP, to help with bleeding and Gabapentin for pain and sedation. He's doing much better than when we showed up in the ER, but we are far from out of the water. He still needs an abdominal ultrasound, blood work, and most likely surgery if the mass is removable. Even then, there is no guarantee he will pull through. If you do donate, all the funds will go to treatment and/or end-of-life care if we get to that point.
