I am Major David Gray, an Air Force JROTC instructor in Arlington TX. One of my cadets is facing significant challenges obtaining transportation to and from school each day. Our AFJROTC family wants to support Zechariah by providing Uber transportation to and from school for his last semester and allow him to graduate with his classmates.
Zechariah is a senior at Lamar High School, where he has attended since 9th grade. In the past, his family has struggled with being homeless. His mom was recently injured in a car accident and has been on medical disability as a result. Their vehicle was a total loss and his mother lost her job due to lack of transportation.
Zechariah lives in Fort Worth, which is outside of the Lamar High School transportation zone, and therefore not able to ride the public school bus. Since losing their car. he has been catching 2 city public buses with the closest stop 3 miles away from his campus. Zechariah then walks the rest of the way to Lamar High School, which takes him an additional hour. As the weather turns colder, this trek becomes much more difficult and dangerous.
Zechariah is absolutely determined to graduate from high school. His dream is to become an engineer., which I have no doubt he will achieve!
Any support you are able to provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
