Support Zayd's Wellness and Recovery after Car Accident

Frankie here. I've made this fundraiser on behalf of a member of my chosen family, Zayd.

Zayd was in a pretty serious accident on Friday (the 13th, no less) that completely totaled their car, and while the airbags failed to deploy to protect them, we are grateful that Zayd did not have to visit the ER. They are still experiencing full body soreness and whiplash, but are still determining whether a hospital visit is needed at this point. As many of you know, medi-cal is very difficult to navigate and with the loss of their car, every single expense is critical, so seeing a doctor may not be something they can afford right now, unless they absolutely need to.

I am asking friends and family to help alleviate some of this burden for Zayd. To help them replace their car and to also help pay for the sunken costs of the work they missed and any future wellness related things that we could help subsidize in advance if needed; dr visits, physical therapy, acupuncture, etc.

Zayd is a trans Palestinian whose livelihood has been totally dependent on their own ability to work since arriving in the bay in 2016, with no family support or safety net to fall back on.

What makes queerness radical is the ability to show up for one another in all the ways that society fails to do on a daily basis, so I am asking people in my own community and beyond, as well as anyone who reads this, to step up in this real and material way to help out a key member of my chosen family, who has helped to save my life in countless ways over the course of our friendship.

I know it’s already so hard to exist/survive in this world, whether you identify as queer or not, but a few dollars that might otherwise go to a cup of coffee or a movie or something will make a difference to Zayd, who has already mentally gone through the wringer since having to witness the ongoing genocide of their motherland.

And if you can’t spare anything right now, I’d appreciate you spreading the word and maybe even dm’ing your friends with guilty consciences and deep pockets. Time is of the essence when it comes to helping someone rebuild after a major accident like this, so every dollar and every share counts <3
