On 6/18/25, while visiting California, Zayden suffered severe 3rd degree burns to his right arm, hand, and side as a result of a terrible accident. He was stabilized at Mercy and transferred to the UC Davis Burn Unit ICU. He underwent a procedure under anesthesia to scrape all the skin on the arm and side. He somehow developed an infection in the arm, which he was treated with daily iv antibiotics. On 6/25 he was taken into skin graft surgery where they took healthy skin from the large portion of his left thigh and attached it to his entire arm, from shoulder down to hand. He had a nerve block placed in the left leg to attempt to lessen the severe expected pain caused from this type of surgery. In the following days underwent a few sedated procedures to remove staples, check unexpected bleeding, remove the nerve block implant and cleaning of the areas. He has experienced excruciating pain, wound washes twice daily, and bouts with ptsd trauma. After 16 days in the ICU, he has finally been transferred to a step down trauma unit. We are hoping he can come home in the coming weeks.
Our family is suffering financially due to this unforeseen tragic accident. His mother flew in the same night from Oregon and has been here since, unable to work. There have been so many unexpected expenses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Please keep Zayden and family in thoughts and prayers
