For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Zane and I’m the founder of Chop ’Em Down Films.

Last month, I suffered a devastating accident that shattered my heel and left me in debilitating pain and unable to work. The injury was so severe it required intensive surgery and I now face a long road to recovery. My doctor told me I’ll never walk the same again. I’ll be dealing with chronic pain and a bone fusion surgery is likely within the next 1–3 years. On top of that, my insurance had lapsed, so every medical bill has been out of pocket.

Filmmaking has always been more than a job. It has been my passion since childhood - it gives me purpose, a voice, and a way to connect with the world. Over the years, I’ve built a life documenting stories, often alongside people and communities who push boundaries and create their own paths. The work demands being on my feet and moving with a camera, which makes this injury especially difficult.

This has been one of the hardest times of my life. I can’t work right now and even when I’m able to return, my capacity will be limited. I never wanted to ask for help publicly, but the mounting medical costs and loss of income have made it necessary.
