Support Zalia's Fight and Road to Recovery

Hello, my name is Abraham Oliva, I am Zalia’s Father.

On April 14th my daughter Zalia was involved in a very traumatic accident in Peoria, AZ. She has been admitted into the ICU, where she is being treated. Zalia is in critical condition, facing Spinal cord injury, facial fractures, neck and skull fractures along with a broken pelvis and arm. Currently, she has no feeling from her chest down. She underwent an emergency surgery for her vertebrae and spine close after the accident. She is currently intubated for respiratory support. She will need multiple major surgeries. Doctors have postponed some surgeries due to respiratory state. She has been in and out of sedation and slowly becoming more alert. She will undergo more surgeries in the coming weeks. Zalia is such a warrior and fighting for her life!

As some of you may know, Zalia is from California and currently a student at GCU in Arizona. She is studying Criminal Justice in order to serve and protect in her future. She is smart, funny, loving, caring, and an amazing daughter! To say I am proud of her is an understatement!

On Sunday early morning, I got a call saying my daughter has been in a life threatening car accident and that she has been admitted to the ICU. My heart dropped! My wife and I got on the next flight out, as we live in California! I was absolutely devastated and knew I needed to be out there immediately to help and support my daughter.

This life changing accident has put a hold on Zalia’s dreams. She will be facing a long road to recovery! There will be many physical and mental challenges she will fight to overcome. Her recovery process will be extensive but she has been so so strong already!

Zalia has had so much support in the hospital and the commuity has been overly caring to all families involved in the accident! We can’t tell you how much that means to us all! This has been so tough to process but we are all thankful to those that are showing their love and support to my daughter. We are all praying for a smooth recovery.

The reason I created this GoFundMe is to help with my daughters medical expenses and future specialists and therapy that she will need. We foresee that her therapy could take months. We cannot wait for Zalia to be able to be in the comfort of her own home!
