Support Zaira's Recovery After Tragic Accident

Donation protected
Hello friends and family, my name is Todd and my Wife, Cassy and myself are raising funds for my close friend Champagne and her Daughter Zaira. These funds will go directly to hospital bills, Zaira’s co-pay to see the Neurologist, Primary Care and other medical visits, funds for comfort items, funds to support Zaira’s mother while she is taking unpaid leave from work, food and other needed items.

Zaira was in a horrific car accident and almost lost her life. By the grace of God and a skilled surgeon, she was lucky to survive this crash. She is now facing healing from her emergency brain surgery and facial reconstruction surgery. Champagne will be facing a great deal of money loss from missing work to stay at the hospital and support Zaira, and soon the mountain of medical bills will be filling the mailbox.

Zaira was in a severe car accident on 7/12/24. She was going to stay at a lake cabin with family and they were hit head on by a truck that pulled out directly in front of her Uncle’s Girlfriend, whom was driving. Her Uncle Tony was in the passenger seat and his two children were also in the vehicle with Zaira. Her Uncle’s Girlfriend suffered severe leg injury and Zaira was severely injured. Her Uncle and cousins had minimal injury. All were wearing seatbelts. Zaira was airlifted to Columbia, MO for emergency brain and facial reconstruction surgery after the crash. She suffered a skull fracture and multiple facial fractures. During surgery her bone was pushing into her brain. They were able to reconstruct it, but she is missing some bone pieces so may need additional surgeries later for cosmetic purposes. Her nose and cheeks were shattered and needed reconstructive repair. The covering on her brain was torn and was able to be repaired. By the grace of God, Angels and a skilled medical team of surgeons Zaira survived but she’s not out of the woods.

Zaira is currently stable. She's very tired and sleeping a lot. She can't open her eyes too much. There's still a risk for brain swelling, bleeding, and seizures. She'll be in ICU until it’s safe to be transferred to a regular recovery room. She hasn't talked a whole lot. She doesn't remember the crash or being in the helicopter. The medical team is waking her up and checking her neurological status every hour. She has several small brain bleeds but they said that is normal for now. Due to her skull/nose surgeries she is having blood/brain fluid drain down her throat and it is causing her to vomit and a lot of discomfort. She can't blow her nose due to the reconstruction. She is currently getting a blood transfusion as of 7/14, due to red blood cell count.

I am hoping that this funding can help Champagne and Zaira have relief when it comes to gas, food and the mounting medical bills that are to come. Champagne is driving from Springfield, MO to Columbia, MO and that is a lot of gas money. We do not know yet how her recovery will go or if she will need rehabilitation… which isn’t always covered with insurance. Zaira is such a strong girl just like her Momma, we are so grateful that she’s doing well in her recovery so far.
