Hello friends and family, I'm writing this on behalf of my husband Zac.
If you've known Zac at any point in his life, you know what a hard worker he is. He always put everyone's needs before his own. If you've also known Zac for the past two and half years, you know the struggle he has been facing since his accident in April 2023.
Due to an injury he sustained while working, Zac was diagnosed with compartment syndrome, a condition so rare that over 10 doctors initially dismissed his pain and our concerns. This condition happens when there is a painful build up of pressure around muscles, and has lasting negative effects on muscles and nerves.
In May 2023, Zac was admitted to Memorial Hospital in Hixson and within hours had surgery to relieve the pressure that had been building up around his leg muscles, and to remove a staph infection. This began the long road to recovery that we are still facing.
Due to the location of his incision right across the peroneal nerve in his leg, Zac suffered extensive nerve damage that is still causing him extreme chronic pain everyday.
Zac has finally been approved for a surgery and treatment that will make a world of difference in his everyday life. On October 22, he will undergo surgery to have a spinal cord stimulator implanted in his back.
This will potentially lower his pain level by at least 75%, allowing him to live a more pain free life.
The recovery time for this procedure is at least 6 weeks, and during that time, Zac will be unable to work.
Any funds raised will be used for:
- loss of income for at least 6 weeks
- monthly bills
- travel expenses to see his surgeon and doctors in Chattanooga
- medical expenses related to his surgery and treatment
- any other out of pocket healthcare costs
- insulin and other diabetes supplies
Zac is an amazing friend, father, and husband. We are so hopeful that this surgery will give him a pain free life again where he is not limited physically. We are deeply grateful for any support we receive.
