I was recently involved in a motorcycle accident that turned my world upside down in an instant. I went from living my life to facing a long road to recovery, both physically and financially. The accident left me with injuries that require ongoing medical treatments, nerve damage, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, and tailbone, shoulder, and back issues, and I’m unable to work while I heal. Just over a year ago my daughter and her mother were in a nearly fatal car accident and I spent weeks in hospitals and at home with them while they recovered. I did everything I possibly could for them, but it resulted in nearly losing my business of 10 years. Countless projects and my major retainer contracts all were lost because I was unable to work, which paid for most of the important things in my life. A year later, I still have not recovered from losing my life savings in that time frame or the debt I accumulated from that accident, and now I had the rug pulled again. I’m now struggling to keep up with urgent bills, medical expenses, and the costs of daily living on top of the pain and uncertainty. Even rebuilding my bike, which was a big part of my life, along with riding in general for the last 22 years, feels out of reach right now. Thankfully I was extremely lucky all things considered. My helmet and backpack saved my life without a doubt. Most of the expenses and lost income are low compared to last year's devastating accident, but it still feels like being kicked while you're down.

Every once in a while, we all need help. I’ve always tried to be a "pay it forward" kind of person supporting others whenever I could. Now, as I lay in bed in excruciating pain from now infected road rash the size of a volleyball and several other wounds I decided not to share photos of, I find myself needing to ask for help to alleviate the financial stresses that are weighing on me.
