Support Zach's Family Through Medical Crisis

Hello, my name is Jeff Neal, and I'm reaching out for support for my son, Zach Neal. Over the past few years, Zach has faced an unimaginable series of health challenges that have taken a tremendous toll on his family and him.

In September 2021, Zach was rushed to the hospital with severe pain, only to find out he had diverticulitis with a large abscess in his pelvis, ready to burst. An emergency surgery was performed, and a foot of his large intestine was resected. This was followed by a 16-day hospital stay and the necessity of an ostomy bag for a few months. In January 2022, he underwent a reversal surgery that went well, but it required another week-long hospital stay and months of recovery.

Just when we thought Zach was on the path to recovery, he developed a hernia in December 2022. Scheduled to see a surgeon in early January, Zach's condition took a turn for the worse when his hernia strangulated his small intestine on December 31, 2022, necessitating another emergency surgery. This time, a foot of his small intestine was resected, and the hernia was repaired. Five days in the hospital followed this surgery.

On January 15, 2023, Zach woke up with a massive infection from the surgery. He was rushed to the hospital, where they performed yet another emergency surgery to remove the infection. Unfortunately, the hernia returned, weakened by the infection, leading to a fifth surgery within less than three years. In March 2023, a 12x12 inch piece of mesh was used in an attempt to repair his abdomen. This involved another five-day hospital stay and a grueling 12-week recovery period.

Despite all these efforts, Zach's hernia has returned. He is now scheduled for yet another surgery at the end of June 2024. This upcoming surgery will mean at least another week in the hospital and 12 weeks of recovery time, during which he will be unable to work.

Zach and his family have endured so much over the past few years, and the emotional and financial strain has been overwhelming. We are reaching out for your help to support Zach through this difficult journey.
