Support Zach Whitehead's Recovery
Donation protected
Friends,
Zach Whitehead, our dear friend (one of Halsey’s best friends) and colleague could use all of your support and well wishes at this incredibly difficult time. Tuesday morning, 1/10, Zach drove a friend’s convertible alone, and within minutes the car malfunctioned and flipped multiple times. Zach was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio after he suffered severe head trauma. He went in for immediate neurosurgery where they performed an emergency hemicraniectomy. He spent 6 weeks in the hospital with a severe brain injury, both lungs collapsed, 5 broken ribs, and 6 broken vertebrae.
We are so incredibly grateful Zach had a successful surgery and is with us. For those who know Zach, he is the most positive person and lives life to the utmost. Halsey and I often joke about how he never seems down about anything that’s going on in his life. Literally. That is why we know his outlook is going to help tremendously with his recovery.
Zach has been a helicopter pilot for 15 years, he started off as a flight instructor, flew Grand Canyon tours, flew for the local San Antonio news and spent several years flying Air Ambulance helicopters.
Due to his severe brain injury, it’ll be several years before he’ll be able to apply for another pilot medical in order to resume his career.
We are asking for all the support we can get to help cover his hefty medical bills, and to provide for his wife, Jazzmin, who stays home with their three young children Remington, Arrow and Jovie.
As mentioned, he is as strong as they come but it’s going to be a long recovery. Anything you can do to help would mean the world to Zach and his family.
