I’m here to tell you all a little about my brother-in-law, Zach. If you know Zach, you know he lights up any room he enters and has a heart of gold. He is such a fun-loving, free spirit and has fun with anyone around him. The Borunda family is facing the unimaginable as Zach has recently been diagnosed with DSRCT sarcoma, a very rare form of soft tissue cancer.
He had been having unbearable pain for months and struggling with symptoms like bloating/swelling abdomen, weight loss, back pain, aches, night sweats, and chills. These symptoms were leaving him in crippling pain on and off on a regular basis. After a few months of dealing with this, he went to an urgent care and ER where he was misdiagnosed multiple times. Zach chose to reach out to a doctor via Telehealth. This doctor was extremely concerned with the symptoms that Zach explained to her. She sent orders for bloodwork and imaging. He then received the devastating news that he has multiple masses throughout his abdomen.
Zach was terrified but knew he didn’t have time to wait. He was advised to go to the nearest emergency room where more testing would occur. It was September 11, 2025, when he was first admitted to the hospital. After biopsies, Zach was diagnosed with DSRCT sarcoma, which is desmoplastic small round cell tumor.
Zach is determined to be a survivor. He is a fighter and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment. He is in and out of the hospital every two weeks for five days at a time. He has so many friends and family members who are in his corner. Many have asked how they can help. Zach and all of the Borunda’s are so appreciative and moved by all the support. The family has set up this GoFundMe page, as this is probably the best way to help Zach right now. His medical bills are mounting and this would help relieve some of his financial stresses. Zach needs to stay focused on his recovery and not get derailed with growing expenses.
Zach just finished going through round four of chemo treatment and is showing progress every day.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us. Your kindness, prayers, and generosity mean more than words can express. We will keep you updated on Zach’s journey as he continues to fight.
