Help Support Zach, Kerry, Callum, Shaun & Baby Carson
On August 31, 2026, Zach went to the emergency room with abdominal pain. He never could have imagined that within hours, his life—and the life of his young family—would change forever.
Doctors discovered a mass in his colon, lesions on his liver, and involvement of nearby lymph nodes. Zach was admitted to the hospital for a few days , and underwent extensive testing. He was discharged home to wait for results and a plan. That same week, Kerry and Zach welcomed their 3rd beautiful son, Carson James on September 4th.
On September 8, Zach, Kerry, Callum, and Shaun went together to bring Carson home from the NICU. During the drive, during their first moments of ever being together as a family of 5, Zach received the call that the biopsy confirmed the mass was invasive colon carcinoma.
Zach is only 41 years old.
He has not yet reached the age at which routine screening colonoscopies would typically begin. He is an otherwise healthy, active husband and father. There were no warning signs that could have prepared this family for what was coming.
On September 10, Zach met with the Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer Center team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is now in the hands of an incredible team of doctors who are working to determine the best course of treatment.
The diagnosis is stage 4 colon cancer. Treatment will focus on managing the disease and giving him as much time as possible with his wife, his boys, and the people who love him.His treatment plan will include aggressive chemotherapy and radiation.
This young family is trying to navigate their oldest entering kindergarten, their middle son entering preschool, caring for a newborn, a c-section recovery, cancer treatment, and the unimaginable uncertainty of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis—all at once. Their boys are busy, their household is bustling, the pace of everyday life hasn’t slowed for a second.
Kerry has been a stay-at-home mother for the past several years. With a newborn at home and Zach beginning what will likely be an intensive and exhausting treatment journey, returning to work is simply not realistic right now.
Zach will also face time away from work for appointments, procedures, chemotherapy, radiation, scans, and the inevitable days when treatment makes it impossible for him to work.
We want to give this family something they desperately need right now: the ability to focus on Zach’s health and their children without constantly worrying about how they will pay for everything.
Funds raised will help with:
* Lost wages and reduced household income
* Childcare and help caring for their three boys
* Transportation to and from chemotherapy, radiation, and medical appointments. Parking fees
* Medical and treatment-related expenses not covered by insurance. This includes integrative naturopathic oncology, which they would like to explore alongside conventional treatment. This can often be out-of-pocket and very expensive. This includes funds for specific foods and household items that are low-tox as the family embarks on lifestyle changes in pursuit of health.
* Meals, household expenses, and everyday costs during treatment
* Unexpected expenses that will inevitably arise throughout this journey
* Giving Kerry the ability to remain at home with her newborn and by Zach’s side rather than having to worry about returning to work
There is so much this family cannot control right now.
They cannot control the diagnosis. They cannot control how long treatment will take or how Zach will respond. They cannot control the scans, the side effects, or what the future will bring.
But together, we can help take some of the financial weight off their shoulders.
We want Zach to be able to concentrate on fighting this disease.
We want Kerry to be able to hold her newborn son, care for her three boys, and be beside her husband without wondering how they will make ends meet.
We want Callum and Shaun to have as much normalcy and stability as possible while their parents navigate something no family should ever have to face.
And we want Zach to have the time and opportunity to make memories with his sons.
If you are able to donate, any amount will make a difference. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser, sending encouragement, or simply keeping this family in your thoughts and prayers means more than you know.
If you would like to donate, but do not feel comfortable with an online platform, please contact Kelsey and Kaylee for information on how to donate alternatively.
Please also respect Zach and Kerry’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time. They are overwhelmed by the love and support surrounding them and may not be able to respond to individual messages. We will help share updates when appropriate, while allowing them the space to focus on their family and Zach’s treatment.
Thank you for loving Zach, Kerry, Callum, Shaun, and Carson.
Thank you for standing beside this family.
And most of all, thank you for helping give them time, support, and hope.
