Our precious cat Zaba was unfortunately rushed to the animal hospital today and had emergency surgery.
She threw up three times within a few hours so we brought her in right away. The doctors moved quickly after her tests came back. They said it was a matter of life or death. Her intestines were so tangled up they could explode at any moment if they didn’t perform immediate surgery.
We were overwhelmed and devastated to say the least but are thankful to report she just got out of surgery and is going to be ok. As it turns out, she ingested a shockingly thick and long yarn that caused her intestines to tangle and it got into her stomach. They operated on both organs to remove it.
The hospital is keeping her 2 nights to monitor her and administer meds before she comes home for a 2 week recovery.
While incredible and life saving, the surgery was very expensive. Zaba's bills are turning out to be over $6,500. A couple of friends encouraged us to start this fundraiser in light of the sudden and astronomical costs.
Anything helps and would be so appreciated during this time.
Lots of love,
Michelle & Sean
P.S. other than this terrible incident, Zaba is happier and cuter than ever. She just turned 4 yrs old on Halloween and loves her life in the valley. She spends her time being at windows looking for action, bathing in sun beams, running around the house for no reason and rolling over to get belly rubs (poor baby won't get to do some of these for a while). She still thinks she’s a dog and constantly wags her tail and brings us her toys to play with. We are so thankful she’s ok and can’t wait to spoil her with love once she’s home.
