Due to my chronic health challenges, treatments, and living expenses, I'm having extreme difficulty paying for compounded prescriptions (NEVER covered by insurance), ongoing treatments, and basic living expenses.

I’m sharing my story because I’m struggling far more than I ever have financially. If you’re able to help even a little, it would mean the world to me.

In 2009, my life changed forever.

For nine (9) years I had been completely homebound, unable to step outside at all, due to severe systemic reactions from a rare genetic condition.

Those years were filled with daily pain, uncertainty, and heartfelt prayers for a doctor who could finally diagnose me.

By God’s grace, I found a rare disease specialist who took on my case. He diagnosed me and has continued to care for me ever since. Now I have three specialists. My condition is called MCAS, mast cell activation syndrome/disease. Mast Cells are a type of white blood cell. MCAS can attack ANY organ, along with having a full range of symptoms, Tachycardia (fast heart beat), flushing, anaphylaxis, POTS, EDS, chronic fatigue, coupled with other health conditions outside of MCAS.

My skin, intestinal tract and both my kidneys have suffered through this challenging condition. Tachycardia (fast pulse) and currently no treatment for my kidneys, just monitor every 6 months for stability, limiting protein.

Although I’ve worked most of my adult life, my condition makes consistent employment extremely difficult. There are good days, but many others where symptoms flare and leave me unable to function normally. This condition affects the whole immune system and I’m allergic to fragrances, chemicals, many foods, inert ingredients , mold, environmental factors, etc. Thankfully, pets are not an issue. My pets have helped me through the hardest days. Their unconditional love is remarkable.

Insurance does NOT ever cover “compounded prescriptions”. Many of my meds have to be compounded to prevent serious reactions due to inert ingredients and costs approximately $300 a month , out of pocket.

I’m also receiving a once-weekly injection for chronic inflammation, which is also NOT covered by insurance. The out-of-pocket cost is approximately $500 every other month.

Many of my regular pharmacy medications are not covered by insurance either. I have a medication regime around the clock that helps control and stabilize mast cells.

My specialist has warned that qualifying for disability benefits is very challenging; especially with a rare condition that wasn’t even recognized in the medical community until 2007.

Like so many others right now, I’m also facing serious financial strain.

After a lifetime of working and never asking for help, it’s humbling to reach out now.

It’s hard for me to ask for help. I’ve always enjoyed helping and being there for others. Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a lot of stress, health issues, trying to pay for treatments and living expenses (rent, utilities and basic needs).
