Im pretty bad at asking for assistance however earlier this year my health abruptly took a turn for the worst. This has unfortunately brought on substantial financial burdens which I am struggling to navigate. The past eight months have been extremely painful and exhausting as I have been consecutively admitted to the emergency room eight times and undergone gallbladder removal surgery. The majority of these hospital visits yielded minimal relief and have been extremely expensive. This has been a scary and confusing time for my loved ones and I. For the past five years I have been living with multiple autoimmune conditions (POTS, dysautonomia, lupus, connective tissue degeneration, arthritis) which already make daily activities challenging and these new developments have regrettably exacerbated these difficulties greatly. My family and I hoped surgery would have resolved some of my ongoing issues but that has not been the case. The prolonged wait time for surgery and the recovery period afterwards has put great strain on my body and significantly flared my autoimmune conditions to a level I had not previously endured. This has made my physical endurance for ordinary activities become very unpredictable and diminished. I’ve spent a great deal of this year bed bound or struggling against limited mobility. Even my better days are not without physical difficulty of some kind or the stress of managing symptoms. The onset of these more extreme and far ranging symptoms have made me unable to work which makes the financial aspect of these experiences even more stressful. Through this whole process I have also discovered more health concerns than I was previously aware of which require extensive medical treatment and imaging. My family and I have been seeking answers from a myriad of specialists but I have yet to find much relief. Even with insurance the cost of seeing specialists, surgery, and diagnostic tests is daunting. The wait time to follow up with the medical care specialists I’ve been referred to is also dragging out my recovery time as the bills pile up. Any contribution would help me chip away at these expenses and focus on my recovery journey.
