Support Yumi's Emergency Recovery
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Cozy and Bobby here. Unfortunately, last night Yumi was attacked by another dog. We're currently rushing back home from another country, but we won’t be home until tomorrow night. Thankfully, family is by her side, along with her favorite stuffed animal, "squirrelcoon," as she fights for her life in the ICU.
Right now, things are critical. Her intestines are severely injured, and one of the bites was dangerously close to her aorta—just one millimeter away, which could have been fatal. Her blood pressure is low, her white blood cell count is down, and she’s extremely cold. We’re taking things day by day, and the next 48 hours are crucial. Please keep her in your thoughts.
Yumi had emergency surgery last night and remains in critical condition. She is currently receiving a blood transfusion and will likely need 1-2 more surgeries as her vertebrae is currently exposed as well, but needs time to build more tissue. We appreciate any support and positive energy you can send her way.
To be fully transparent, we have spent $13,800 so far on surgeries, $900 on a blood transfusion, $1,800 on last minute flights, $3,000 on her second surgery. I’ll make sure to put all updates on here!
3/20 Update: Yumi is out of surgery & is doing better!! She responded very well to the blood transfusion & her blood pressure is stabilized and her body is starting to warm up. She drank water and peed for the first time which is amazing because she almost had to remove one of her kidneys! she also tried to walk??? with tubes all attached to her lol she’s a fighter for sure!
3/22 Update: Yumi is going in for another surgery in a few hours to check her wound vacuum & possibly close it up. If all goes well, this is her last surgery. If not, she will be hospitalized for a few more days and have one more surgery.
3/22 Nighttime Update: Yumi is out of her second surgery and did so well that she shouldn’t need another surgery!! She built up enough tissue to close the wound vacuum, so she has a drain in now and should be able to come home within the next 2 days then will require a few follow up visits. All is looking well & we really appreciate all of you guys more than you know!!
4/15: Yumi is doing great! She is finally starting to heal and so are we mentally. I have been MIA for the past few weeks as I have been Yumi's full time caregiver as she heals, but she is finally okay on her own. Unfortunately, the attack happened from a family dog and the family is taking zero responsibility or accountability, so now that we are doing okay, it’s time to figure out next steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
