Walpurgis Words for Literacy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is launching its first annual fundraising campaign dedicated to supporting youth literacy and young writers.
Walpurgis Words for Literacy was established by the Dark Veil Society, a literary collective focused on horror and dark fantasy, out of a shared commitment to storytelling, education, and creative development. Through this campaign, funds are raised for two primary purposes:
Student Prizes
Awards for the Halloween Horror Student Flash Fiction Contest, an annual writing competition that encourages creativity, literacy, and confidence in young writers. Read more here.
Youth Literacy Support
Direct support for local school libraries and public libraries to help expand access to books, reading materials, and literacy resources for children and young readers in the community.
All funds raised through this campaign are used exclusively for student awards and literacy support. The objective is to encourage young people to read, write, and tell stories while supporting literacy programs that expand access to reading and education.
This initiative will continue annually, with updates provided outlining how funds are allocated and the impact they support.
