Support youth leaders in the Salinas valley with BioJam camp

What is BioJam?
BioJam camp is a bioengineering summer program focused on engaging communities historically excluded by the research process. Our mission is to engage the curiosity of migrant teens through culturally rooted bioengineering projects and create pathways for them to teach their communities. We collaborate with Monterey County’s Migrant Education Program and community partners to design lessons and field trips for teens to explore and share environmental issues facing migrant communities in the Salinas Valley. Teens then bioengineer solutions and develop workshops they share with elementary students and Stanford researchers.

This work aims to inspire a new generation of youth leaders grounded in scientific research and cultural expression, breaking traditional power dynamics between researchers and communities. Many teens leave BioJam with aspirations to become educators, engineers, scientists, artists, and community advocates.

How can you help?
To run BioJam camp in 2025, we need funding for workshop materials, educational resources, transportation, food, and college visits. We hope to raise $3,000 to run a full program including follow up support on career readiness, college applications, and internships for our campers.

Please consider supporting BioJam’s mission and join the BioJam family.
