Support Abby’s Master's Journey in Canada

Hello, as many know, I was recently accepted to a master's program in Canada. Unfortunately, I found out the program through which I was able to pay for college doesn’t extend to international schools and neither do my student loans through my bank. As a result, I’ve tried to apply to two personal loans but was denied and did not receive elaboration as to why and am now having to resort to last options. I have applied for second jobs, but don’t know if even with that I’ll raise the amount I need in time to apply for my student visa. I’m currently trying to raise the money needed to cover my tuition and any other expenses I may have during my first year of the program.

In Canada, I hope to focus on Russian indigenous culture and the people who extend their knowledge beyond their own community. The school offers me access to not only the skills needed to pursue my passion in anthropology, but also the connections I would need to teach others about this topic as well. When searching for schools, my current mentor at UCF had emphasized how important it is in our field to find a school that fit me, rather than me fitting into a school, and it is for this reason that I chose UVic.
