Support "YOUR LAST STUPID DROP" A Dramedy Short

Donation protected
Hi! We're Jianna Venturina and Lakshya, raising funds for our upcoming independent dramedy short, YOUR LAST STUPID DROP. It follows two siblings, Maya and Sam, whose father unexpectedly dies in a truck accident. His last remaining item? A trashed, half-empty, plastic water bottle from his cup-holder. The two siblings must find a way to honor their dad with this strange piece of trash -- despite some lingering resentments.

To say that this is a personal project would be an understatement. Yes, this story is steeped in a highly personal outlook on grief -- but beyond that, we're making this film with a crew of folks we love and trust to tell this story with care. A majority of the funds will go toward making sure these guys are well fed, and an additional 30% of funds will go toward necessary things like permits and gear trucks!

A bit more about the writer:
I’m Jianna, a 3rd year Film student at Chapman University, all the way in SoCal— but prior to that, I spent two years studying film at DePaul University in Chicago. I’ve worked with companies like NBC, Peacock, SMOSH, and soon, Universal Television.

Now that’s out of the way: six months ago, I lost my dad.

Sounds tragic? Yeah, because it is. It’s the most tragic thing I’ve been through in a long time.

But my grief was also absurd. It was beautiful. It was dizzying. It was utterly, terrifyingly meaningless— and somehow, one of the most defining experiences of my life.

When I lost my dad, I kept running into a problem: I had no idea how to properly represent my grief. How can I possibly ever describe my father accurately, in all his infinite complexity? With how lush, meaningful, and multifaceted my fathers life was— to think that he was gone over just one stroke? It felt so far fetched. It felt almost… comical.

So, that’s what this film is. It’s about the “nothing-ness” of death. It’s about the absurd suddenness of it all and how, in the moment, death feels as unreal as, well, a piece of plastic. That’s why this film a comedy-drama. Because before your sense of reality catches up to the fact that they’re actually gone — there’s nothing else to do but laugh. And cry. A lot of that too.

I also think we all deserve to make a joke about our dead loved ones at least once, so I’m cashing that in right now.

This is “Your Last Stupid Drop.” It’s a film that I’m gonna make with some of my favorite people, in my favorite city.

Thank you for the support.
