Malik is a 17yo aspiring pianist from Bangalow with an extraordinary gift. Described by mentors as a one-in-a-million talent, he is a true prodigy whose musical ability far exceeds his years.
In 2024, Malik passed his Licentiate Diploma of Music Performance with honours, after only 3.5 years playing piano.
Earlier this year, Malik was featured on the ABC’s popular series, ‘The Piano’. More recently, Malik was awarded first place in the 17-18year category of the Queensland Piano Competition.
For 2026, Malik has been offered a partial scholarship to reside at Ormond College and study at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (University of Melbourne) — an incredible opportunity that could shape his future as a professional musician.
Even with the scholarship, the costs of Ormond College residential fees are unaffordable for Malik’s single mum. We are aiming to raise $30,000 to help Malik take up this incredible opportunity.
Malik’s mum works in the Mullumbimby Women’s Resource Service, supporting women and children who have been subjected to domestic violence and is not able to relocate to Melbourne. At 17, Malik is young to start University far from home, so the opportunity to live on campus at Ormond College is a safe and independent opportunity for Malik.
By supporting Malik, you are not just helping a young man study music — you are investing in a rare talent, a future artist, and a story that deserves to be heard.
Thank you for believing in Malik and for helping shape his potential to become a Concert pianist on the world stage one day.
