Help Fund Prizes for LMS Art Contest

My name is Laura Medrano, and I'm excited to have hosted a meaningful art contest for our local LMS students built around the powerful theme of "Make Love Not War." As you may know if you live in Lennox and surrounding areas, I'm the artist behind the same-named mural that decorates our community and has quickly become a landmark for locals with this positive message. I was invited to speak at some of the Lennox schools that I attended growing up about art, the mural, my student experience in the Lennox School District, and where my journey as an artist has taken me. I was humbled to see the impact of how this message has inspired some of our youth. This theme invited young artists to explore the importance of peace, empathy, and unity through their creativity. I wanted to keep the momentum for them, and with the go-ahead from the Lennox Middle School faculty, I organized a school art contest.

Art is a powerful outlet for school-aged children and an incredible way for them to process the world around them and express big ideas in a beautiful and honest way. It broadens their horizons and teaches them another form of expression. I believe in their efforts and want to celebrate their talent and passion, but your help is needed.

I'm raising a mere $400 to provide prizes like gift cards and art supplies for the middle school students that submitted entries for the contest.

Please consider donating or sharing this campaign. Your support helps send a strong message to these students: their voices matter, their art matters, and their vision for a kinder world matters. These prizes will motivate and reward the artistic students while for some, this may be the catapult they need to inspire them to continue! Your support helps me immensely as this contest is not funded in any other way except by me and hopefully, your donations. There was originally only going to be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize, but after viewing all of the masterpieces submitted, every student deserves recognition in some way. We would love to reach our goal by May 23rd.
