Support "You Need a Haircut" and Hair We Share
I’m raising funds to support the production of my upcoming two-part documentary, "You Need a Haircut", which explores hair as a powerful form of self-expression and highlights the emotional impact of hair restrictions and hair loss.

I’m proud to be partnering with Hair We Share, a Long Island-based nonprofit that provides custom human hair wigs completely free of charge to children and adults experiencing hair loss. In the documentary, I buzz off 3 years of hair growth, donating a total of 19 inches of hair to be made into a wig.

My passion for this project stems from recognizing how many people want to express themselves through their hair but simply lack the ability to do so. For some, this is due to medical conditions; for others, it’s challenges with hair density, growth patterns, or even societal pressures that limit their confidence and freedom to express their identity through appearance. I’ve seen this struggle firsthand, both in my own life and through people close to me. Hair is often one of the first forms of self-expression we notice in others, and I want to raise awareness of how deeply it can impact a person’s sense of identity and confidence.

How the Fundraiser Works
The first $500 raised will help cover essential production costs for You Need a Haircut, including equipment, travel to Long Island for filming at the Hair We Share office, and travel to their upcoming fundraiser gala this fall. One of the most meaningful moments of this project will take place at the gala in October, where I will have the incredible honor of meeting Jennifer, a heart transplant survivor and the recipient of my hair donation. Hair We Share carefully matched my hair to hers, believing it would be a perfect fit. I am truly humbled to play a part in making a positive difference in her life. You can watch here story here.

Once the initial production costs are covered, every additional dollar raised will go directly to supporting Hair We Share. This includes:
• Covering the initial cost of the wig made from my donated hair for their Ponytail Tracking program ($150)
• Covering fundraiser gala ticket costs for me and my cameraman ($150 each)
• Making a cash donation to Hair We Share at the October fundraiser gala to fund the production of my wig and hopefully many more! (any additional donations!)

Why This Mission Matters
Creating a custom human hair wig is a highly specialized and expensive process. Hair We Share estimates that each wig costs around $1,800 to produce, considering materials and skilled labor. Each wig requires hair donations from about six individuals, making financial contributions just as critical as hair donations. Despite the high costs, Hair We Share provides these wigs entirely free of charge, relying on donations to keep their mission going.

Why This Story Matters
Through You Need a Haircut, I hope to share not only my personal journey but also to inspire many others to grow out their hair and donate to organizations like Hair We Share. For those of us fortunate enough to express ourselves freely through our hair, it’s easy to forget how powerful that privilege can be. My goal is to encourage more people to pay it forward and help others regain their confidence and ability to express themselves.

By supporting this fundraiser, you’re not only helping me tell this important story, but you’re also making a direct impact in the lives of those experiencing hair loss.

Thank you so much for your support.
