As a proud graduate of the BSW program at York College, I know firsthand how much this community means to those who pass through its doors. The support, encouragement, and opportunities I received here helped shape me into the social worker I am today. York College is more than just a school—it’s a place I can truly call home, and I’m grateful for the lifelong connections I’ve made.
Now, as another class of MSW scholars prepares to graduate, I want to give back by organizing a special celebration in their honor. We’re raising funds to provide catered food and drinks from The Door Restaurant, creating a meaningful and culturally grounded experience for the graduates. This event is more than just a party—it’s a moment to validate their hard work, care for them as they end one chapter and begin another, and pour back into those who are always pouring into others. In our field, we often focus on supporting others, but on this day, it’s time for us to support and uplift these new social workers, reminding them of the importance of self-care and gratitude.
I’m reaching out to fellow alumni and supporters to help make this celebration possible. There are times when we look back and wish someone had created a memorable moment for us—let’s be that someone for these graduates. Your contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward making this day unforgettable. Please join me in paying it forward and showing the next generation of social workers the strength and love of our community.
