Ayúdame a continuar mi camino en la medicina

Hola, mi nombre es Yolymar Oquendo Alvarado y soy estudiante de medicina en la University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS), con el objetivo de realizar una especialidad en pediatría y dedicar mi carrera a la salud infantil.

Recientemente aprobé el USMLE Step 1, uno de los exámenes más importantes en la formación médica. Alcanzar este logro ha requerido años de sacrificio, largas noches de estudio y una profunda dedicación.

A lo largo de este proceso, he hecho todo lo que está en mis manos para sostenerme y continuar mis estudios. He trabajado como niñera, tutora, repostera, cocinera y, más recientemente, como diseñadora gráfica. Además, ya comencé mis rotaciones clínicas y continúo trabajando mi tiempo libre. Aun así, los costos de la escuela médica son elevados y mis ingresos no son suficientes para cubrirlos.

Este año, mi préstamo estudiantil fue denegado. El costo del año académico es de aproximadamente $60,000 y, aunque he explorado préstamos alternativos, no he tenido éxito. Por esta razón, este GoFundMe es mi último recurso para continuar mis estudios.

Help Me Continue My Journey in Medicine

Hello, my name is Yolymar Oquendo Alvarado, and I am a medical student at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) pursuing a specialty in Pediatrics and dedicating my career to children’s health.

I recently passed the USMLE Step 1, one of the most important milestones in medical training. Achieving this required years of sacrifice, long nights of studying, and unwavering dedication.

Throughout this journey, I have done everything within my power to support myself and continue my education. I have worked as a babysitter, science tutor, baker, cook, and most recently, as a graphic designer. I have also begun my clinical rotations and continue working during any free time I have. Despite these efforts, the cost of medical school remains overwhelming, and my income is not enough to cover it.

This year, my student loan application was denied. The cost of the academic year is approximately $60,000. Although I have explored alternative loan options, I have not been successful in securing funding. For this reason, this GoFundMe truly represents my last option to continue my medical education.
