Dancing Superhero DJ on the Mend

Dear friends, family, and MusicbyYoko fans,

I come to you humbly asking for help to raise funds to replace my damaged MacBook computer (the screen got damaged during one of the many recent transitions). After some rough months focused on my health care, I would love to be able to get back to my creative endeavors as a DJ, storyteller and podcaster.

I had always been somewhat of an artist. I was reintroduced to that idea as an adult, which offered a light on the horizon for me. That bright light started to fade last year as I faced some serious health challenges. Some of you might know that in the Summer of 2024, a few months after being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and started and stabilized on dialysis three times a week in MN, I decided to move back to upstate NY to be closer to family and to a dialysis center. Unfortunately, just a few months after that, I had to be flown to VT to have emergency open heart surgery. Later and while on cardiac rehab as an outpatient, I had a heart attack which led to another intervention. I have stayed in VT since then so I can continue receiving care from the excellent medical team here and to keep focusing on my recovery. I’m fully cyborg now, with a mechanical valve, a rebuilt ascending aorta and two stents. Simple things like walking my dog and going to get groceries became a major task but I have persevered.

I have finally felt the energy and urge to get out, be myself and do some of the things that I know bring me joy and I spread love. However, I am unable to work any signifiant amount of hours for the foreseeable future. Normally, I would just work some extra hours, save some money and get whatever equipment I needed but my ability to work is slow in coming. Due to my damaged computer, since my heart surgery, I have not been able to play music for others the way I've done in the past years. Anyone who knows me understands that being a DJ and playing music for those who care to listen will bring me joy and help me heal. I find myself at a loss throughout this transition and I’m asking for help. I would like your assistance with whatever amount you can spare or share, so I can purchase a new-to-me computer where I can run my software to play music, which would in turn allow me to earn a bit of extra money, help me feel good about myself and provide me with some internal motivation to keep going with my dialysis and cardiac rehab.
