My name is Bram, and I’m raising funds for one of my closest friends, Yoeli Ortiz.
Yoeli is one of the most genuine and hardworking people I know. He’s the type of person who always tries to do the right thing, helps others whenever he can, and works hard every day to build a better future. Anyone who knows him knows that he truly has a good heart.
Yoeli came to the United States when he was very young and has been here for over 10 years. Growing up wasn’t easy for him. He never really knew his parents and came to this country with his grandmother. Over time, he had to grow up mostly on his own without much guidance or support. Despite that, Yoeli still chose the right path in life. He began working at a young age and has always focused on working hard and staying out of trouble.
He loves sports and staying active, and he’s the kind of person who keeps pushing forward no matter what life throws at him.
Recently, after finishing playing basketball, Yoeli was pulled over while driving. Unfortunately, he did not have a driver’s license, which led to his arrest. Because of his immigration status, this situation has now put him at risk of deportation.
If Yoeli is deported, his situation could become very dangerous. His life is here in the United States. This is where he grew up, where he works, and where the people who love and care about him are. If he is sent back to the Dominican Republic, he would be returning to a place where he has no real support system, no close family, and where his safety could be at risk.
We are trying to raise $25,000 to help cover legal fees, immigration attorneys, and the costs needed to fight his case so he has a chance to remain here in the United States.
Yoeli is a good person who simply deserves a fair chance to keep building the life he has worked so hard for.
