On November 2nd, Yesenia and her 13-year-old daughter, Yailanee, were on their way to a volleyball tournament when their vehicle hit black ice and rolled over, leaving both of them with serious injuries.
Yesenia suffered four broken ribs and a punctured lung. Yailanee sustained a broken collarbone, femur, and nose, and will need surgery to repair her leg. Despite their pain, both are in good spirits and grateful to be alive, but the road to recovery will be long and challenging.
Yesenia has devoted the last seven years to serving the Providence community as a Police Officer. A proud mother of two, she somehow balances her demanding job with the same love and care she gives to everyone around her. If you know Yesenia, you know she’s the one who always shows up (even if she’s a little late lol) with a big smile, infectious laugh, and calm, caring energy everyone gravitates toward. She has a heart of gold- always checking in, offering advice, and treating everyone like family. Her motherly wisdom, compassion, and sense of humor make her the kind of friend you can always count on. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Yesenia now faces not only the physical and emotional recovery ahead but also the financial burden that comes with it. With both she and her daughter out of commission, medical bills and daily expenses will continue to pile up while she’s unable to work.
We’re asking for your help to lift some of that weight off her shoulders. Every donation will go directly toward Yesenia and Yailanee’s recovery.
