Hi my name is Yeliz, my friends call me Lizzy. I’m 20 years old and I was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma in November of 2023.
I first noticed a lump on my neck with some coughing but I thought I was just getting over a sickness. After a month the lump was still persistent and I started to get night sweats, a loss of appetite, dizzy and was my lightest weight I’d ever been. So I listened to my body and went to my gp. I was sent to do some tests and my gp suggested I go to emergency to get my lump checked out. I had a biopsy done and after a week of being in hospital I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
I was just about to start nursing school but unfortunately I had to put that on hold and also leave work to start chemotherapy “ABVD”.
I underwent my first few rounds of chemo and all seemed to be working until I went to my third pet scan and the scan showed that the treatment wasn’t working as it should’ve been.
I then had to be put on a different regimen of chemotherapy “BEACOPP” which was more aggressive and left me feeling my weakest. After more than half a year of the new treatment I found out I was in remission. Super exciting but also very anxious of the future.
The start of this year I had the symptoms of when I first got cancer and I already knew it had come back. After another biopsy, I found out my cancer had relapsed. I’ve had to leave uni and my job to start treatment again. I am currently undergoing treatment but this time, scheduled for a stem cell transplant. Since I’ve had to quit my job I do not have the funds to cover my medication, transportation funds to the hospital and my daily necessities.
If you're in a position to help, even a small contribution or simply sharing the fundraiser link would mean a lot, Everything is appreciated and anything helps.
Thank you for taking your time to read my reality and supporting me through my most desperate times. Love always!!
