Hello! My name is Yekaterina Morozova and I'm fundraising for my Summer Japanese Language Program, hosted by AFS (American Field Service), an intercultural exchange group.
Spice Up Your Summer Program is where I found this amazing opportunity through one of my biggest support systems, The Bridge: Kaua`i Bridge to College. I was selected to further my education of language in Japan through a scholarship that my mentors and advisors helped me gain from AFS. The Bridge helped me make this trip possible and I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
I still can't believe that any of this is real. Me! Going to Japan for a month?!? That's crazy!!! I say this wholeheartedly because the cost of something has always been a huge impact in my family. My mom has been single handedly raising me for the past 8 years and truly wants the best for me and my future. My sister and I struggled with certain things considered average growing up; such as meals, how we were getting to school, flooding, or even something as simple as clean water. The scholarship AFS has provided me has cleared so many boulders in my life that were blocking me from exploring and advancing my education. And now I am asking you for support, to continue helping me through this amazing, life-changing experience I will never forget.
The program details include living with a host family for 5 weeks in Japan while going to school Monday-Friday to learn Japanese. On weekends, I will be exploring more in depth of Japan while implementing what I learned at school onto real life scenarios. All funds sent to this account will help me pay for transportation fares, service fees, as well as other costs I may come across in a foreign country.
To my donors: I will link an updating blog website made to share my journey where I will be posting photos, videos, and texts of what I was doing that day!
