My name is Y'Eishia and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.

I am a wife, a mother of three beautiful children, and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. I served my country with honor, dedication, and love — never imagining that shortly after hanging up my uniform for the last time, my next battle would be one for my life.

Just six months after retiring from the Navy, I heard the words no one ever wants to hear:

“You have cancer.”

My family and I are currently living in Japan. We chose to remain here so that our children’s routines, stability, and lives would not be uprooted — and so I could focus on treatment while keeping our family together. It has been incredibly difficult navigating cancer while raising little ones, but staying together has been our strength.

Unfortunately, the medical system here works differently. Even with insurance, treatment must be paid upfront, and only partial coverage is reimbursed after. We have rapidly exhausted our savings, retirement funds, and every avenue available to us. My 401k is inaccessible due to my retirement status, and despite trying, I cannot take an advance against my life insurance because I am not considered terminally ill.

I have always taken pride in being strong and independent. If you know me, you know I would never ask for help unless there was no other option. But today, I am humbly asking for support — not just for me, but for my family who needs me.

Every donation will go directly toward lifesaving treatment costs, medical bills, travel to and from the hospital, and keeping our children’s lives as stable as possible during this journey.
