Yazmin is only 17 years old, and she and her brother Eric are going through one of the hardest moments of their lives after losing their dad. Four years ago, their mom had to leave to Mexico to care for close family members who were seriously ill and has not been able to legally return to the United States. Since then, Yazmin and Eric have relied on their dad, with the help of their older sister Arlene, who stepped in to support and help care for them.
Their dad was a hardworking, positive, and deeply loving father who did everything he could to provide for his children, even while facing serious health challenges. He battled diabetes and lost his leg last year, yet continued to stay strong and put his kids first no matter what. Tragically, he suffered a stroke on Sunday night and was later pronounced brain dead on Thursday, 4/2. He was then taken off life support, leaving Yazmin and Eric heartbroken and facing an uncertain future.
Arlene is now doing everything she can to support her younger siblings during this incredibly difficult time, but she cannot do it alone. The family is asking for help to cover funeral expenses and to support Yazmin and Eric with their basic living needs as they adjust to life without their father.
